The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recommended airlines to visually inspect door plugs on Boeing 737-900ER planes. This comes after a similar door plug design was found on the 737 Max 9, which had its fleet grounded. The FAA is investigating whether Boeing ensured the safety and conformity of the 737 Max 9. The door plugs on the 737-900ER have not yet been an issue. The FAA is urging immediate inspections of the door plug locations on the 737-900ER. Boeing and airlines such as Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines are cooperating with the inspections. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident involving the Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9. The FAA has ordered an initial round of inspections for the grounded Boeing 737 Max 9 planes.
